The Collection
The Peers' Collection revolves around the work of two twentieth-century Kansans, Adeline and Frank Peers. Adeline and Frank, as brother and sister, spent time overseas after WWI, both having times of separation in their journeys. The collection boasts an abundance of Frank's woodblocks and corresponding prints. Frank is known for his work as an illustrator featuring prints in several books including Tale of the '90s by Henry Von Rhau. Included among Frank's works in the collection are features of his experimentation with charcoal, watercolor, and graphite. Adeline's works, though a smaller portion, account for her documentation of portraiture, landscape, and still life paintings done in oil. Adeline is known for her contributions to the arts community in Topeka and the Mulvane alongside her work as a bacteriologist.
